Maintenance & Reliability Centre Update

I would like to extend our thanks to all the guest speakers and registered attendees from industry who have supported the Maintenance and Reliability Centre in 2006 and 2007.

The success of our seminars and courses is due to people like you who present, attend, or register staff in your company to attend seminars relevant to your industry. This update is just to inform you of what the centre has offered so far and what’s coming up soon.

Maintenance and Reliability Center Plays Host

Situated at the heart of Manukau City on MIT south campus, the centre boasts a practical workshop below a training/meeting room. Used as a convenient venue to hold short courses, seminars or meetings, often used to host VANZ committee meetings and industry advisory meetings .

If you are interested in hosting your next meeting, training session or seminar at the Maintenance and Reliability Centre, please contact Larry Wiechern at larry.wiechern@manukau.ac.nz

 Seminars – Semester 2, 2007
Apart from Dynamic Seals Seminar, all our seminars have been well supported by industry.

Kicking off semester 2 one day seminars is Machine Tool Alignment (both stationary and rotating), presented by Allan Patterson of Measurement and Calibration Centre and Brent Masefield of Rotational Alignment Technologies Ltd.

The two one day seminars on Engineering Material Awareness, is planned for August these are being presented by Ivan Mitchell of Heat Treatments on the 9th August and Failure Analysis, presented by Barry Robinson of S.A.F.E , on the 23rd August, these will both be held off campus to enable direct contact with the testing equipment and furnaces used to achieve best understanding of this vital topic of interest for maintenance engineers, toolmakers and design engineers.

If you would like to register for any of the upcoming seminars please email Sarah Williams at sarah.williams@manukau.ac.nz or, if you would like more information, email Larry Wiechern at larry.wiechern@manukau.ac.nz

Infrared Thermograhy Level 1 Certification
Wayne Ruddock flew in from Canada to present this successful five-day course which proved to be very worthwhile for the twelve attendees registered. Wayne hopes to repeat a similar series later this year for Levels 1 and 2.

If you’re interested in registering for the Infrared Thermography Level 1 Certification, please contact Mike Ratne at mratne@infratherm.com.au

Introduction to Vibration Analysis Level 1
As we lead into the second series of one day seminars, Jason Tranter is also keen to test the waters for support from you or your staff. The four day training course is to held at the Maintenance and Reliability Centre, followed up by the one day seminar on an Introduction to Vibration.

Jason would appreciate an indication of support to enable him to review the upcoming training course in October. If you’re interested in attending the Introduction to Vibration Analysis Level 1 (4 day course)  please contact Jason at   jason@ilearninteractive.com
Last year Jason had 29 engineers attend his one day seminars on Introduction to Vibration  Analysis, this will be repeated later this year.

Managers Breakfast
Was well attended by 35 Engineering Managers, we will repeat this in future. The feed back from those in attendance was very positive.

Once again, many, many thanks for all your support

Kind regards
