What can I win?
• The Gold Award Winner receives $3,000 towards professional development.
• The Silver Award Winner receives $1,000 towards professional development.
• The Bronze Award Winner receives $500 towards professional development.
What do I need to do?
What work have you put in place that has achieved great results improving the health and safety of those around you? We need to understand what you’ve done and the results you’ve achieved for you to be in the running for the major award of $3000. Don’t sell yourself short by thinking your work may not be important enough to submit, the work you are doing every day is making an important difference to the health and safety of the people you work with. Make sure you put your achievements forward for recognition.How do I enter?
Written entries should be submitted by 5pm Friday 15th August 2008 to: Andrea Parr, 3M NZ Ltd, PO Box 33-246, Takapuna, Auckland. E-mail contact details are: aparr@mmm.com• The three fi nalists will be notifi ed Wednesday 20th August 2008, by phone or mail, that they will be presenting their entry to a judging panel at the 2008 OHSIG Conference in Auckland.
• The format of an application is up to you but it should include information that follows the judging criteria below. Clearly describe the program, how it was carried out and the results achieved. Written entries must be no more than 2000 words.
• It is anticipated that where a group of people have been involved, the application will be made by the group leader or champion with the involvement of others being recognised.
• Presentations at the conference are to be no longer than 20 minutes and are open to other conference delegates to attend.
Points will be awarded in the following categories:
In your entry explain how you showed or achieved the following:a) Innovative Thinking - 20 points Showing new ways of applying existing ideas or the development a new way of doing things.
b) Innovative Technology - 10 points The development of new technology or using existing technology in new ways.
c) Proactivity - 10 points Taking action on problems before they develop to be signifi cant.
d) Sustainability - 20 points How long has the program been in operation and will it remain effective into the future.
e) Applicability - 20 points The degree to which the program could affect a large number of workers. Could it be used in other industries?
f) Results - 20 points How well has the program worked?
